My philosophy, and what I’ve told people I’ve worked with, is “If you can imagine it, I can create it.” With a bit of trust building and showcasing what I can do, I had teams that weren’t afraid to ask for new toys to play with in spreadsheets to make their lives easier. From tracking tools, to instructional tools, where when logging an issue, it automatically lists how to handle it, where to go, etc.

I’ve even helped other teams by creating stuff they wanted or needed. A prime example was an issue that occurred with accounts, and everyone had to come in early across multiple teams to resolve the issue while servers were down, planning for hours of work and downtime. I created a tool that automatically located the issues in the user data, highlighted it, and turned what was planned to be hours of work into a few minutes of training on the sheets and some copy/pasting for a handful of people.
